Artist's Statement

The idea is to do stuff that is cool, interesting, captivating, and thoughtful. I enjoy figurative work and portraiture, but I like to think that my range is much greater in terms of sculpture, glass, and mixed media. I paint (most often in oil, but acrylic, too), sculpt using direct sculpting methods, found objects, 3d sculpted and printed concepts, fused glass and stained glass, and whatever I might learn.

There are many times art objects can and should be beautiful, and other times maybe not. But they need to stand up and be noticed and endure conceptually. I believe in work that elevates people, and invites contemplation.

In my determination to express my most authentic self (which tends to be a more than less sort of approach. I don't see myself as a maximalist, but I'm not afraid to go there.) I love colors and textures and an expansive toolbox that is abstract, as often stained glass might require, or toward realism when I need and want it to be.
