Naides
34in x 24in
oil on canvas panel

Naides. River Nymphs. Impossibly long hair flowing from their heads into the water and around the snake fountain. There are places like this in the world. But this is one of imagination and magic. It is magic, after all, that hundreds, thousands, of years ago were credited for the phenomena of the seasons and weather, for illness or good health. Superstition is the sublimely beautiful sister of skepticism (who wears eyeglasses and a lab coat). Allegory unites those siblings with symbolism.
