Jumping rope, skipping rope, is fun and a very effective aerobic activity. It requires a little bit of practice, and a little bit of patience to build up endurance. And, of course, you need a jump rope.
"Rhythm" shows three figures playing a game of jumping rope and there are a lot of other group configurations that make it very challenging. They all require a good sense of timing and coordination, almost like a dance team. But, the simplest version is just one person, although there are a variety of jumping tricks that one person can do.
I took this title in part to honor Johnny Cash's tune "Get A Rhythm" based on the slapping of a shoe shine rag and how that musical beat can be uplifting. "Get a rhythm when you get the blues...".
Like a lot of things, there are times when we might train alone, times when we can share our experiences, just for fun, with others. The clickety-click of the jump rope reminds me of how systems work. Every once in a while, things can break down, but the players can stop and start as needed to keep things going.
Families can be like that too. The same is true of working relationships. Human beings need each other.
